Benefits of Potash Fertilization in Rice in Six States of India – Results from Field Demonstrations
This paper published in the Indian Journal of Fertilisers highlights the benefits of potash fertilization. Fertilizer-use is a key to sustenance of soil fertility and productivity, however a major decline in soil fertility has occurred due to continuous potassium depletion from soil with little or no replenishment from the external sources, adversely impacting India’s rice production. Potash for Life was launched in six states (Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal) to demonstrate usefulness of fertilizing rice with potash. This paper highlights some of the key findings and results of the project to date.
