Using the Power of Digital Technology
Over two hundred dedicated agronomists are working across nine states of India to share the Potash for Life message that precise crop nutrition with potash fertilizer brings great rewards.
Uniformed in their bright yellow shirts, they cover a lot of ground in India. But the distances between them are vast. This is where a little use of digital technology is making a massive positive difference to their work.
Join the agronomists in the course of a typical day’s work to see how social media networks and sharing images and ideas online between them is such a boost to their morale and performance.
The next step is using their smartphones, cameras and laptops as tools to create great presentations of photo stories and films to inspire farmers to improve their fertilizer practice.
The use of digital technology does not stop there. Farmers are also using it to share the talks they hear and the evidence they see.
It’s a great tale of the power of digital technology to share a powerful story: potash is a powerful plant nutrient.
From the Field
Himanshu Hariharno: “I jumped at the chance to be an agronomist with Potash for Life. I enjoy being able to offer really useful information that will help the farming communities that I work with to earn more and have better lives. I have always been a creative person.
In my work now some of my main tools are my smartphone, my camera and my laptop. I am always trying to think up new ways to share the results from the demo plots. It is great how in India we have these tools to share ideas and information with.”
Ankur Chaudhary : “You could say I am a shy sort of person. Through being an agronomist with Potash for Life I have become confident in holding farmer meetings because I can pick up on the ideas and practices of other agronomists in the team. I see what they are doing and I pick the ideas I like for my work.
Gradually I began to share the successes that I have. Digital technology makes it easy and quick to keep improving. My farmer clients can keep in close touch with me too with What’s App.”
